Mariana Mazzucato is Professor in the Economics of Innovation and Public Value at University College London (UCL) and Founding Director of the UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose.
Mazzucato is also an award-winning author and advisor to policymakers around the world on innovation-led inclusive and sustainable growth, with policy roles including Chair of the World Health Organization Council on the Economics of Health for All, Co-Chair of the Global Commission on the Economics of Water and member of the South African Presidential Economic Advisory Council.
She holds honorary doctorates from nine top-rated global universities and is the winner of international prizes, including Italy’s highest civilian honour, the Grande Ufficiale Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana. She has been appointed Commander of the British Empire for services to economics, and Pope Francis appointed her to the Pontifical Academy for Life for bringing “more humanity” to the world.
